UCI News 20/01/2010 U.S. Consul General in Jerusalem Daniel Rubinstein and Khaled Sabawi, President of MENA Geothermal Ground Energy and Investment Company Ltd. (MENA), signed a grant agreement today from the U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) in support of a district geothermal heating and cooling system for a planned 500-unit affordable housing complex near Ramallah. The $438,612 grant will study the feasibility of applying geothermal technology on a massive scale, potentially reducing the entire development’s energy consumption by up to 70% and significantly reducing CO2 emissions. 29/10/2008 UCI has announces the completion of its flagship office building, UCI-1, which will host the company’s headquarters, and the headquarters of its partner in the project, Ahliea Insurance Group. This building is widely regarded as a milestone in design innovation, and has received extensive media and press coverage, for its inclusion of a state-of-the-art geothermal heating and cooling system, that is the first of its kind in the region, and is expected to reduce heating and cooling costs by 70%. 29/10/2008 UCI also announced that it is approaching completion of its Etihad Subdivision residential community in Ramallah, and has commenced sales of the completed properties. 17/08/2008 UCI proudly announces the launch of MENA geothermal, a subsidiary of UCI and Ahliea Insurance Group (AIG), which offers state-of-the-art Geothermal Heating and Cooling systems for commercial and residential applications. MENA Geothermal was announced in a spectacular media event, attended by local dignitaries, business leaders, environmental and non-governmental organizations, and representatives of the European Union Energy Initiative, and hosted at the Grand Park Hotel in Ramallah, Palestine. 25/07/2007 The Board of Directors, second meeting for 2007 was held in Amman on 17/07/2007, during the meeting the following decisions were taken: UCI awarded the contract for construction of the first phase of Arkadia Residential Compound to Al Zein contractor who will start the construction activities on July 23, 2007. Works will be concluded in 365 days as per the signed contract.

17/07/2007 The Palestine Securities Exchange has received the financial statement audited by UCI's external auditors as at 30/06/2007. The release regulations in force give each company listed on the Palestine Securities Exchange a period of one month and a half to release the financial statements of the second quarter of this year. The release has been made through preparing the semi-annual report to which the unified electronic release form for the investment sector approved by the market is attached. The UCI's statements for the first half of this year indicated that the net profit before being taxed reached US$ 604,472. The UCI's assets reached US$ 33,908,143 and liabilities reached US$ 104,620. The Shareholders, net equity rose to US$ 33,803,523.

28/06/2007 Regional Investment portfolios invested in UCI. Base of shareholders distributed geographically to 4 continents. One of the regional investment portfolios has recently purchased 4 million UCI shares through the trading screen on the Palestine Securities Exchange. This step came after this portfolio had made a thorough study of the investment reality in the companies listed on the Palestine Securities Exchange. The UCI's performance was outstanding in a relatively short time which strengthened investors', confidence in the UCI resulting in expanding its business at both the regional and international levels. This made most of the investors consider the UCI's share as one of the leading and promising shares. The base of the UCI's shareholders is expanding to include Palestine, Middle East, Europe and North America. The work of implementing a set of real estate projects in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip is still well under way. These projects include:- Etihad sub-division, Arkadia residential compound, First administrative complex, Second administrative complex and a crown tower building, a set of future projects such as a residential township on the beach of khan yunis, a Le Royal Hotel & Central shopping complex (Ramallah), a tourist and recreational complex (Gaza).

Data shows the following: Revenues were US $ 1031727 during the fiscal year 2006. The UCI's expenses during the same period were US $ 567113 The UCI's net profits were US $ 438719. The year 2006 is the first fiscal year in which the UCI reveals its financial data. The UCI was established in 2005 and included on the list of the Palestine Stock Exchange in early 2006. 14/01/2007 The Palestine Securities Exchange has announced that the shares of the Union Construction and Investment will be included on the list of the Palestine Stock Exchange on Sunday, 21/01/2007 which will be the first day in which the UCI's shares will go into circulation. On this occasion, and in cooperation with the Palestine Securities Exchange a symposium on the UCI's activities and real estate investment fields will be held on 16/01/2007 from 12 AM to 2 PM at Grand Park Hotel, Ramallah.
