UCI, Ahlia Insurance and the Ministry of Social Development sign ILS 212,400 agreement to support families affected by the Corona epidemic

Ramallah, April 21, 2020: Union Construction and Investment, Ahlia Insurance company and the Ministry of Social Development signed an agreement to support the resilience of Palestinian families in need; whereas the two companies will distribute 5,500 food parcels valued at 212,400 ILS to 5,500 Palestinian families in the West Bank and Gaza Strip among the families most affected by the economic crisis resulting from the Corona epidemic, as per the ministry of social development lists. The initiate is titled "Salat Al Rahman”.

The agreement was signed at the headquarters of the Ministry in Ramallah by the Minister of Social Development Dr. Ahmed Al Majdalani and Mr. Adnan Al Sabbah the Deputy General Manager for Production and Agents Affairs of AIG on behalf of Dr. Mohamed Al Sabawi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the two companies, in presence of Mrs. Nida Tawil Disi, Chief Operating Officer of UCI, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Development Mr. Daoud Al Deek, the Assistant Undersecretary for Social Welfare Mr. Anwar Hamam, Mr. Kheir Sartawi,  Manager of Production and Branches department at AIG, Mr. Bashar Al Azza, a member of the Board of Directors of the two companies, and Ms. Nebras Arar from the PR department at UCI

The two companies will distribute food baskets during the next two days in various governorates of the West Bank and Gaza Strip, according to the lists of the most affected families and officially registered at the Ministry of Social Development, which reach the number of 78 thousand families until this date.

Dr. Majdalani appreciated this initiative, saying that this agreement and the agreements that were signed with many other institutions, constitute a real boost for the ministry, and will help it in facing the exposure crisis of many families and the most affected social sectors.

Dr. Majdalani expressed his pride in the initiative of Ahlia Insurance and Union Construction and Investment companies, which comes in the context of national and social responsibility, and that goes to help the poor and marginalized families and families that affected from the outbreak of the Coronavirus. He pointed out that this agreement is devoted to the efforts made by the government and the private sector in facing the Corona pandemic and limiting its spread in Palestine, and providing resources for support, resilience and a social safety network for the groups affected by this epidemic.

For his part, Dr. Mohamed Al Sabawi said that the launch of " Salat Al Rahman "campaign comes from the eagerness of AIG and UCI to contribute to community and national responsibility, consolidating solidarity and integration between public and private sector institutions to enhance the steadfastness of our people and care for their health and safety during the Corona crisis.

He also pointed out that in order to overcome this global crisis with minimal damage in Palestine, we have to deal with the crisis as an opportunity to fulfill our human and moral obligation as individuals and as institutions.

This initiative is an extension of the policy established by Eng. Khaled Al Sabawi, CEO and Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of UCI, to contribute to supporting community and national development.

It is worth mentioning,  that this step came after the two companies donated two twenty-foot containers, each container contains gloves and medical masks to the Palestinian Ministry of Health in the amount of half a million shekels.
